Virtual tutoring is an essential component of distance education, as evidenced by the specialized literature and documented practical experiences. However, significant gaps remain in tutor training. An initial assessment revealed significant deficiencies in three fundamental areas: pedagogical and didactic mastery for managing learning in virtual environments, technological skills for using digital platforms and tools, and the socio-emotional skills necessary for providing comprehensive student support. This article describes the design and implementation of a tutoring course in distance education and analyzes its transformative impact on the training of 25 participants. Using a mixed methodology that integrated document analysis with pre- and post-intervention surveys, the program's effectiveness in tutor development was demonstrated. The results showed significant improvements overall, confirming that effective virtual tutoring not only optimizes academic performance but also strengthens the sense of community and institutional belonging.
