Program of Environmental Education for the biggest Adults

Abstract

The environmental challenges that the world faces today require environmental education in all citizens, which responds to the social needs existing in the communities where they live and interact; Hence, society has the responsibility of articulating actions to respond to such challenges. Cuba is going through the phenomenon of population aging, which brings with it the search for alternatives to outline actions aimed at this population sector. Environmental education as well as population aging constitute challenges that humanity must face in order to improve the living conditions of older adults, and stimulate their participation in the process of social development. Based on these assumptions, the objective of this research is to propose a program for the environmental education of the members of the Chair of the Elderly of the Bejucal Municipality. Based on the materialist-dialectical and historical method, a system of theoretical and empirical methods was used that made it possible to penetrate the essence of the object of study, arrive at conclusive syntheses about the program as a scientific result, as well as design the proposal that is presented. The components of the program are: Objective, theoretical component and the methodological component that focuses on educational projects. Its partial implementation, through educational projects, allowed us to confirm, through scientific observation, a favorable trend and a positive impact on the environmental education of the older adults, thus confirming its viability.
