The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education presents various challenges for educators, who must adapt to a constantly changing environment. This paper analyzes the impact of AI tools in research and teaching, highlighting three key categories: tools for information search, data analysis, and information representation. The ethical and technological challenges of integrating AI into education, such as transparency, privacy, and algorithm reliability, are also explored. The results show that AI offers new opportunities to improve the teaching-learning process and scientific research, but also requires educators to develop new skills to effectively manage these tools. Personalized learning, fostering critical thinking, and adapting to new pedagogical approaches are some of the areas where AI has a significant impact on teaching.
