Professionalization of professors in “Database Systems I” and “Database Systems II” subjects in Informatics Sciences Studies

Abstract

Improving the professional pedagogical performance of university professors is an element that plays a fundamental role since it determines the attainment of the expected levels of professionalization in higher education. Pedagogical professionalization is recognized as the process for improving the professional performance of university professors. The objective pursued with this work is: to characterize professionalization as a way of improving the professional pedagogical performance of professors of Database Systems I and II subjects in the Computer Science Engineering degree. A study of professionalization was carried out based on the definitions of various authors. Regularities were identified within these definitions and coincidences were evident between the levels, dimensions and principles of professionalization and the improvement of the professional pedagogical performance of professors of Database Systems subjects in the Computer Science Engineering degree. The regularities are identified as procedural, continuous and flexible. The analysis of the levels of professionalization, their dimensions and principles favored understanding their essence, for the application of these to the process of improving the professional pedagogical performance of teachers of Database Systems I and II subjects.
