Abstract

The importance of scientific journals in socializing the research results and its dissemination in the different platforms is analyzed. For this purpose, the relationship between science and scientific journals, their characteristics and functions, and the current challenges they face are studied. The objective of this article is to substantiate the role of scientific journals as the main way to publish the results of scientists and researchers. Documentary study methods were used to process the information and data collected. Consequently, the social function of scientific journals in the dissemination and cooperative construction of knowledge as well as the fact of being reliable communication channels that guarantee the quality of information and being the main repository of scientific results are presented.
