Abstract

The study of the historical and trend development on the management of models linked to society in the Higher Technical and Technological Institutes of Ecuador, particularly at the Ismael Pérez Pazmiño Higher Technological Institute, shows the main limitations that affected the development of this substantive function in the professionals´ training process. Therefore, this research is aimed at characterizing the evolution of these models’ management at the Higher Technical and Technological Institutes of Ecuador. From a socio-critical perspective, theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used. The qualitative methods enriched the validity of the information presented. As a result, the distinctive features of each management stage identified by the study on the historical evolution of the university-society relation at the Higher Technical and Technological Institutes of Ecuador are presented.
