Abstract

Imaging is a medical specialty that is primarily in charge of imaging diagnosis therefore it has become a powerful supportive tool necessary for medical diagnosis in numerous specialties. Due to the technological advances that have taken place in the health sector, the continuous improvement of human resources has been guaranteed in recent years. For this reason, the objective of this article is to describe the historical evolution of high technologies in Cuba and its importance for the training of Technologists on Medical Imaging and Radiophysics in order to contribute to the quality improvement of the services offered to the population from higher education. The topic high technologies in Medical Imaging and Radiophysics incorporated into care services and used as medical technologies for diagnosis and treatment is developed, which leads to the continuous improvement of Medical Imaging and Radiophysics Technologists, responsible of carrying out these procedures. It is concluded that the enlargement of knowledge and the development of skills in the management of high-tech equipment are vital to offer quality services to the population. Therefore, the improvement of Technologists in Medical Imaging and Radiophysics must be
guaranteed and in correspondence with the advances of science and technique as well as the economic and social needs of the country.
