The ability to design in university professors of Technical Sciences: Considerations on its training and development

The vertiginous scientific and technnological development of today's society and the process of globalization of information and knowledge demand the equal access for all individuals to a good quality technical, professional and higher education, including university teaching. In Cuban Higher Education, many of the advances of the most developed countries in relation to
the preparation of the university professors have been shared and the need to transform the university from its base by updating its fundamentals in order to achieve a better training quality in the teaching-learning process leadership is also recognized. The objective of this article is to delve into the theory on the training and development of the ability to design in
university professors of Technical Sciences and its relation with the techno-pedagogical design and the design thought. Theoretical methods were used to determine the methodological fundamentals that support the training and development of this ability, to interpret facts and data, systematize information, specify characteristics and relationships that allow reaching a
level of generalization, as well as to analyze, criticize and take a position on the theoretical studies related to this skill.
