CUJAE in University Social Responsibility context

The Study Center for the Improvement of Higher Education at the Havana University has researched about the University Social Responsibility (USR) to identify potentialities for its development and limitations that could hinder this extraordinarily complex process which involves all the actors engaged in the university professionals’ training. In this article, different aspects related to USR context at the Havana Technological University “José Antonio Echeveria”, CUJAE, which is the main technological learning center in Cuba, are analyzed. This institution is responsible of educating engineers and architects, as revolutionary professionals with high technical and scientific level, committed to the Cuban economy and society. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to identify the characteristics and performance associated to USR at Cujae based on current theoretical conceptions about this topic and researches carried out by this center at the Havana University. As a result, a set of
actions focused on aligning the university with the principles of university social responsibility is proposed for contributing to the continuous improvement of processes, the institution's own effectiveness and its social mission.
