The use of audiovisuals: an experience in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language
Abstract
This article is the result of a pedagogical experience related to the use of audiovisual aids in the Spanish as foreign language lesson for non-Spanish speaking students of technical sciences at Cujae, who come from diverse continents and speak different languages. According to students difficulties in relation to the development of the communicative skills ( listening, reading, oral expression and written expression), the authors ‘purpose is to demonstrate that supporting the teaching-learning process with audiovisual aids, in this case a Cuban film, contributes not only to students´ learning but also to increase their motivation. Moreover, these aids attract their interest in learning the language and favors communication. It was confirmed that the use of audiovisuals and appropriate activities developed non-Spanish speaking students ‘communicative competence to interact in the Cuban context where they live and improved their education as engineers and architects.
