The training of engineers from the approach on Science, Technology and Society / La formación de ingenieros desde el enfoque Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad
Abstract
This work presents, from a conceptual viewpoint, the terms Science, Technology and Society (STS) closely related to engineering; it also shows their origin in the world and the essential qualities of the engineer as well as some considerations that characterize education in technology. The article highlights the impact that transformations have in training engineers and the values in technological environments associated with education. The training of engineers from the approach on Science, Technology and Society (STS) shows a variety of variables and complex parameters for the quality of professional performance
modes which are redefined today in STS studies, as a vital global change in the development of the Sciences of Education and in particular, in higher education. For this reason, the objective is to reveal the relationship among science, technology and engineering and its direct action with society according to the different authors’ criteria as well as the repercussions in training engineers.
