Formation of forest engineers. Impact of management skills in their professional profile
Abstract
This paper is part of a Doctoral research defended, validated and applied in the Forestry career at the University of Pinar del Río, Cuba. An analysis from the curriculum of the career was performed starting from the students’ performance to the specific proposals of the general competencies required by future professionals for their successful performance in their productive and service forestry activities. Another aspect to be included is the students’ formation process during their five years of studies, taking into account management as a central theme and backbone in their studies making them more dynamic and assuming broader and integral competencies. This research shows the importance of including the formation by developing competence in the career in order to achieve more and better prepared professionals who will promote the development of forestry in Cuba from a scientific basis, respecting the principles of a sustainable development for a better world for all.
