Abstract

The presented work shows the need to transform the educational orientation that is made in the teaching-learning process (PEA) for the training of engineers. Theoretical, empirical and statistical research methods are used to reach results. Theoretical references are systematized related to the educational orientation, the teaching-learning process and the pedagogical diagnosis. The study allowed the determination of indicators to diagnose the educational orientation in the PEA. The results of the diagnosis made at the second year of the Mechanical Engineering career at the "José Antonio Echeverría" Technological University of Havana, demonstrate the need to provide educational guidance from the PEA itself in a renewed manner taking into account a positive communication, stimulation of the
zone of proximal development as well as the use of mediation and group coordination, which will favor the self-determination of the students. Actions are based on the transformation of the educational orientation in the PEA towards a higher form that allows the personal growth of the students through the teaching
activities.
