Abstract

English language proficiency is considered a requirement in all areas of knowledge, research and professional development. However, the limitations most professionals have in communicating using this language hinder their qualified performance. For this reason, the institutions request English language training courses related to their specific activities. This article is aimed at supporting the contribution of English language postgraduate courses provided by the Language Center of the Institute of Basic Sciences at the Technological University of Havana to the professional development of specialists from different enterprises. The courses that have been designed and taught contribute to develop the English language communicative competence of these professionals based on their learning needs and interests. As a result, they practice the language in real and meaningful communicative situations related to their professional profile, thus improving their professional performance.
