Abstract

During the years of implementation of Curriculum E for the Civil Engineering program at the Technological University of Havana “José Antonio Echeverría”, the Basic Engineering Workplace Practice, as part of the Main Integrating Discipline, has allowed for the establishment of transdisciplinary relationships with the content taught in the courses Graphic Representation, Introduction to Civil Engineering, and Topography. However, for the latter subject, the university does not have state-of-the-art top geodetic instruments, which constitutes a weakness for the teaching of Topography. Therefore, as a training strategy, the Basic Engineering Workplace Practice has been designed to address the content and skills that students must acquire in topographic work. This article serves the purpose of sharing the results obtained from these practices, focused on acquiring skills in the use of modern technologies, primarily in the area of Geosciences applied to the specialty. To this end, actions were implemented to improve the selection of companies in which students carried out their work experience, adequate control of the activity was carried out, and, also taking into account the content of the summary reports of the student groups, it was possible to solve the lack of top geodetic instruments in the institution and meet the objectives set out in the program of the Topography subject.
