Abstract

The curriculum as a fundamental part of the educational process of a country must be transformed according to the real demands of the system and international contexts. In El Salvador, the educational system has been transformed throughout history considering  the current pedagogical trends, the needs for the preparation of human resources, the demands of the means of production, the availability of economic resources so as that the state can invest in the changes and finally the social policy established by the government. On the other hand, the internal transformation of the system itself requires the updating of human resources, pedagogical and didactic resources as well as establishing educational policies that lead to progress and allow competitiveness with other systems in the region and internationally. Therefore, this article is aimed at historically reviewing the curricular changes carried out in El Salvador and its foundations based on the educational context and necessary transformations that are being experienced in the country in order to implement a pertinent curricular reform which considers the need for resources in correspondence with the future of the country.
