Abstract

One of the most transcendental changes in the life of women is associated with pregnancy and lactation since she becomes a vulnerable person for this period of time. Women role as an integral and useful part of society in the domestic, work and
educational spheres has been widely studied by intellectuals around the world. However, every day challenges related to achieving similar performance for men and women are identified. This purpose is limited by the social and traditional approach
concerning the female gender on its gestation and breastfeeding state. The university, as part of society, also has to deal with these challenges in order to achieve inclusion. For this reason, this research is aimed at knowing the perceived treatment towards pregnant and lactating women at Uniandes University. To achieve the proposed objective, theoretical methods such as synthesis -analysis, induction-deduction, the logical historical method and empirical methods as interview, observation, surveys, IADOV method, PESTEL and Saaty's AHP were used. A low level of satisfaction among the respondents was observed; the possible causes were identified, ranked and qualified for their solution.
