Abstract

Video games have evolved significantly over the past years, from being a simple hobby to incorporate the educational objectives.
This research examines do to what extent educational video games influence the development  of  meaningful  learning  in  basic  education  students  regulate  in  the area  of mathematics?  To  do  this  through  an  experimental  process  applied  two evaluations (Pre Test and Post Test) for a period of two months were three games of strategy, adventure, and simulation. The followed methodology has been the case through an action research approach to study, for which they worked with three groups of experimentation and a control group.
The results obtained from the point of view of how social and personal cognitive development have been positive with respect to the use of games as a learning tool,  and  especially  in  the  use  of  video  games  and  their  educational  potential,
stimulating  the  motivation,  key  element  in  the  learning  process,  through  the assumption  of  increasingly  complex  challenges.  In  addition,  much  of  the effectiveness of the video game is due to the possibility of leaving the routine in
which the teaching of mathematics, is mired by facilitating a concept distinct from the  same  cross,  motivating,  and  mostly  close  to  the  student  and  provided  with important meanings.
