Abstract

The universal thought of José Martí left for education an important conceptual legacy of the process of formation of the human dimension. In this sense, this article is aimed at identifying the underlying patterns in Martí's thought that reveal his pedagogical conception of what in the twenty-first century would be an intentional and organized formative process to reveal the best qualities of the subject who learns. To this end, he uses as a channel the potentialities of the imaginary interview focused on key points such as: the conception of the educational systems, the good practices identified by him in the visits to different educational institutions, and the important changes made in the curricula of the time; these dynamics transcend their interpretation and call for a new look at the 21st century.
